What We Confirm

  • Dates of employment
  • Job titles
  • Eligibility for rehire when provided by the source
  • Pay verification where permitted

When Records Are Hard To Reach

Sometimes employers are unresponsive or no longer in operation. If a business has closed or will not respond, we can request an IRS W-2 or 1099 income transcript with applicant consent to confirm employment and pay for the requested years. Typical turnaround is three to five days after consent.

Employee Verification Options

Not every role requires the same level of insight. Our employee verification options are designed to give you the right depth of information based on the position, helping you balance thoroughness, turnaround time, and cost.

Basic

Includes employment information such as job title, salary (when permitted), dates of employment, and rehire eligibility.

Comprehensive

In addition to basic employee verification, a general interview with a supervisor is included. The applicant’s performance is rated on a five-point scale from “poor” to “excellent” and a brief description of job duties.

Comprehensive Plus

Even more, we have a thorough employment verification which includes the basic and comprehensive searches and an in-depth interview with a supervisor. These questions can be customized to meet specific clients’ needs.

Employee Verification FAQs

Most employment verifications are completed within 1-3 business days, depending on employer responsiveness and available records. If additional documentation is needed ,such as IRS transcripts when a company has closed, turnaround is typically 3-5 days after receiving applicant consent.

If a former employer is unresponsive or no longer in operation, alternative methods may be used. With the applicant's written authorization, IRS W-2 or 1099 income transcripts can help confirm employment history and reported earnings. This ensures the hiring process can continue while maintaining accuracy and compliance.

Employment verification is not legally required for every position, but it is considered a best practice for most hiring decisions. For roles involving financial responsibility, security clearance, regulated industries, or access to sensitive information, verifying work history helps reduce risk and support compliance efforts.

Employment verification confirms factual details such as job title, dates of employment, and eligibility for rehire. Reference checks go further by gathering qualitative insights about a candidate's performance, work ethic, and professional strengths from supervisors or colleagues. Both serve different but complementary roles in the hiring process.
