Our History since 1982

Headquartered in Murrysville, PA, right outside of Pittsburgh, our earliest beginnings were a single room startup in 1982. Our founder Jeanette Spofford built our company on three principles: client-centered customer service, expanding innovation, and the relentless pursuit of quality information.. Although much has changed in the background screening industry, those guiding principles have remained the same.

Serving countless clients across industries & ranging from small local businesses to Fortune 500 companies, our growth has been driven by hard work, adaptability, and a dedication to meeting each client's unique needs.  We have always believed that background screening should be both reliable and accessible, and that belief continues to guide us.  

Today , with a strong history behind us and a forward looking vision, Justifacts blends cutting edge technology with a personal touch.  We remain committed to delivering the most streamlined, compliant, and accurate background screening services - always backed by the attentive, people-first service that shaped our beginnings.

Justifacts is founded in a spare bedroom by Jeanette Spofford, using a Garfield phone to make sales and call references.

Today

From our Murrysville headquarters, teams of verification specialists return references, employment histories, and more.  Unfortunately, they don't use Garfield phones.

Justifacts brought criminal record research in house, giving our team direct responsibility for how records were sourced, reviewed, and documented. This move strengthened quality control and allowed us to apply consistent standards to one of the most critical components of background screening.

Today

That early commitment continues to shape the way we approach criminal record searches. Our in-house U.S. based researchers apply careful analysis, multiple identifiers, and hands-on review to every search, ensuring results are accurate, well-supported, and clearly reported. By maintaining direct oversight of this work, Justifacts delivers a level of reliability and expertise that clients can trust when making important hiring decisions.

2002

Justifacts launched Justiweb, our proprietary online platform, bringing background screening into a centralized digital environment. The launch marked a major step forward in streamlining ordering, tracking, and reporting for clients, while laying the foundation for future technology innovation.

Today

That early investment continues to power our technology. Justiweb has evolved into a robust, in-house platform with built-in tools that automate workflows, improve accuracy, and give clients real-time visibility into their screening programs. By owning and continuously enhancing the platform, Justifacts delivers flexible, client driven technology that adapts to changing needs while keeping the screening process efficient and easy to manage.

2009

Justifacts purchased our current office in Murrysville, Pennsylvania. The move provided space for our growing team and the ability to scale our services while maintaining the personalized, U.S.-based support our clients value.

From our Murrysville headquarters, Justifacts has continued growing an experienced team with the same commitment to quality and service that guided our growth when we first moved in. With deep roots and a forward-looking approach, we remain focused on building lasting partnerships and delivering dependable screening solutions.

2013

Justifacts launched our applicant portal, creating a more streamlined and user-friendly experience for candidates completing background checks. The portal simplified data collection, improved transparency, and reduced friction in the screening process for both applicants and employers.

Today

That focus on the candidate experience continues today. Our applicant portal provides a secure, intuitive way for candidates to complete screenings, and integrated ID verification allows key information to be imported directly from a government-issued ID.  Our candidate focused tools make onboarding quick & easy every step of the way.

Justifacts earned accreditation from the Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA), affirming our commitment to the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and ethical screening practices.
