Fur the Love of Pets: Justi-Cutest Pet Contest

(Last Updated On: February 19, 2020)

I had wanted a dog for years. I begged my parents to get me one but I was always given an excuse. ‘You can’t keep your room clean,’ ‘the yard isn’t big enough,’ or my personal favorite, just a plain ‘no.’ I kept at it for a few years but eventually gave up. Imagine my surprise when I came home from seeing Haunted Mansion to find a big black ball of fur come flying out from the kitchen at me. My parents had finally caved and adopted Dozer, the 6 month old, incredibly energetic, black lab mix. For 12 years, he would greet me at the door each time I came home, his tail smacking the back of the couch so hard it sounded like the beat of a drum. Seeing that always erased the stress of the day.

I think it’s safe to say that the best part of everyone’s day is to come home and see their pets, whether they are waiting dutifully by the door, their tails smacking the floor, staring lazily at you from their perch on the back of the couch or running around their cage. Maybe just thinking about that now puts a smile on your face.

So to celebrate those pets we love and cherish, we decided to hold a ‘Justi-Cutest Pet Contest’ the week of Valentine’s Day. Employees were encouraged to bring in the best photo of their pet to see who would be crowned ‘justi-cutest.’ The categories were ‘cutest dog,’ ‘cutest cat,’ and ‘cutest “other.”’ Using loose change, employees could then vote for whom they felt was ‘justi-cutest.’

Without further ado, the winners of our 2020 Justi-cutest Pet Contest are:

Cutest Dog:

Izzy

Cutest Cat:

Sydney Meowsby

Cutest “other”:

Milky Way

People’s Choice:

Mittens

All money raised to benefit Westmoreland Animal Shelter. This year, we were able to raise $208.06.
