Justifacts Notice Regarding Equifax Cybersecurity Incident

(Last Updated On: October 5, 2018)

Equifax Cybersecurity Incident

As you may be aware, Equifax recently announced a significant data breach that occurred earlier this year. Justifacts would like to take this moment to assure our clients and their applicants/employees that no data maintained by Justifacts has been affected by this incident.

Equifax Security Consumer Notice

Naturally, Justifacts provides our clients with information that we obtain from various sources. One of the sources Justifacts uses is The Work Number. This service is used to verify an applicant’s employment status for employment purposes. The Work Number is provided by TALX Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Equifax.

Justifacts has contacted Equifax about this. Per Equifax, “We have found no evidence that this cyber-security incident impacted our core credit and consumer files nor Workforce Solutions, including The Work Number data.”

While the Work Number data may be unaffected, other data Equifax holds on consumers were potentially exposed. Although data maintained by Equifax is unrelated to Justifacts, we wanted to inform you that Equifax has set up a website where consumers can go to check whether their personal information may have been affected by this breach. This website also offers an opportunity to sign up for their credit monitoring service.

To restate, Equifax has indicated to Justifacts that no consumer data used in the employment verification process has been affected by this data breach. If you or any of your applicants/employees are concerned about any other personal data that Equifax may have, you are encouraged to use the website referenced above.

Thank you,

Compliance Department at Justifacts Credential Verification Inc.
