In addition, the NAPBS® exists to promote ethical business practices, uphold compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Equal Employment Opportunity Laws and foster awareness of issues related to consumer protection and privacy rights within the background screening industry.

College and University Professional Association of Human Resources (CUPA)
CUPA-HR is higher ed HR. We serve higher education by providing the knowledge, resources, advocacy and connections to achieve organizational and workforce excellence. As the association for HR professionals in higher education, CUPA-HR provides leadership on higher education workplace issues in the U.S. and abroad. We monitor trends, explore emerging workforce issues, conduct research, and promote strategic discussions among colleges and universities.

SMC Business Councils
SMC Business Councils has been at the forefront of small business advocacy at the state and federal level. SMC Business Councils serves several thousand employers, representing more than 50,000 employees, in southwestern and central Pennsylvania. Membership is comprised of businesses in service, commercial and manufacturing enterprises. They range in size from sole proprietors to manufacturers with several hundred employees.

Pittsburgh Human Resources Association (PHRA)
The PHRA is committed to serving the HR community by providing superior professional development, networking opportunities and educational resources in order to enhance the value of the profession. Founded in Pittsburgh, PA, in 1916, this association’s objective was to enhance the HR profession. Today, the PHRA continues to achieve this aim by regularly developing programs and workshops, as well as networking and social functions, to engage and foster the HR profession in western Pennsylvania. The PHRA offers an array of learning and professional development programs for local professionals. The PHRA boasts over 1,100 members throughout western Pennsylvania, which makes it the largest Society for Human Resource Management chapter in southwestern Pennsylvania.

National Public Records Research Association (NPRRA)
The NPRRA is a trade association of businesses engaged in the public records filing, research and retrieval industry. The association is dedicated to helping members improve public records industry practice; to elevating awareness of legislative and technological changes that affect the public records industry; to fostering improved relationships with government agencies responsible for the maintenance and administration of public records; to promoting equal access in the laws and practices that govern the public records industry; and to establishing a framework for enhanced networking with other professionals in the industry.

ConcernedCRAs is a group of like-minded CRA’s (consumer reporting agencies) who are concerned about the future of the employment background screening industry. ”Consumer reporting agency” is the technical term for employment background screening firms.
We believe that certain data practices employed by some CRA’s place our profession and consumers at risk and have come together to raise awareness in the background screening industry, the human resources field, and with the public of these important issues.
